Candidates for our New Guild Name!

Hail Comrades!

The time has come.  The Clan Akatsuki will soon be known by a new name. 

Akatsuki is a fine name.  It means "Dawn," "Red Sun," and "Red Cloud," all at once, and each of these translations are profound in their own way.  Regrettably, it is also the name of a clan of ninja from television anime.  At best, we are thought of as merely a group of Naruto fans, and at worst, a clan of ninjas, (in game terms, "ninja" is a less than favorable association.)  Aside from that, there are a hundred Akatsukis in the World of Warcraft.  Some are players, some are guilds, but all of them with the exact same name....

It is time for a change. 

I wish our name, when spoken, to invoke the same vision of Shinobi, warriors of the shadow, without being associated with the crass "ninja" monicker.  I want our identity to be our own, not shared with dozens of different characters and guilds across the servers.  And so, in 1 week's time, I shall be petitioning for a new one.

The protocol requires 5 candidate names, listed in order of preference, to be submitted to the Blizzard GM staff.  This kind of change is offered only once, so it is an important decision.  The candidate names are listed below, along with a short description.

1. Doutanuki -  Very similar to our current name, familiar in look and sound.  It even comes from the same world, but the meanings are quite different.  Doutanuki is actually a type of Katana blade, one that is light but extremely powerful, able to be wielded from horseback just as easily as on foot.  It is a favored weapon of the most elite swordsmen, and the warriors who carried such blades were feared and respected.  
2. The Shadowless Hand -   The hand that moves without shadow is either extremely fast, or invisible.  Neither is good news for any enemy that falls before it.  
3. Crimson Shuriken - There is only one reason why a Shuriken would be of the color of blood... and it usually implies a job well done.  
4. Shadows of Dawn - What once was, will be.  What is, will be no more.  Change is inevitable, but even as the Light must return, so too must the Shadow remain.  
5. Warriors of the Red Sun - We are Horde.  We are all Warriors.  But is the Sun red because it is setting, or because it is rising?  We may hope for one, but either way, we will Rage!

There you have it, comrades!  Leave your comments below.  Remember, at this time, each of these names is unique, so which ever ones are at the top of the list are very likely to be the ones chosen.  If you feel the order should be different, let it be known.  These names will be submitted officially 1 week from today!  Loktar Ogar!!
