Zalazane Must Fall!!
The time has come, comrades! The Call has been given, and it will be answered!
Under Thrall's leadership, the Horde operates not as the ruthless dictatorship of ages past, but as a Federation, where different, independently ruled nations thrive under the same banner. A stain on this shining ideal is the plight of our Darkspear Trolls!
The Darkspear were instrumental in the establishment of the Horde we know of today. When the orcs first landed on Kalimdor, it was with the Darkspear. With their help, the Horde established the nation of Durotar, and liberated the lands of Mulgore. Long forced to be vagabonds, the Darkspear were finally given lands of their own. Off the coast of Southern Durotar, tropical jungle islands bearing the ruins of a lost Troll civilization seemed to many Farseers as proof of the hand of fate, that the Darkspears were destined to thrive as members of the new Horde. It was then that the Darkspears made the Echo Isles their home!
But fate, it seems, is a fickle friend. Shortly after the end of the Third War, the Kul Tiras Navy, Alliance relics of the Second War, assaulted the Troll's new found home. The Darkspear Clan was forced to retreat to mainland Durotar, and with the help of the other nations of the Horde, were able to drive the human invaders back. It was during this time that Zalazane, apprentice to the Master Gadrin, sensed a weakness in the Troll's uncharacteristic alliance with the "lesser" races. He hatched a plan to create his own stronghold, where he and those loyal to him would survive the inevitable collapse of the mottled Horde.
But there were few among the Darkspear who would entertain such a dark conspiracy. Under the delusion that he knew better than Vol'jin himself, Zalazane resorted to most drastic measures. He began hexing his own tribesmen! Soon, more than half of the tribe still living on the Echo Isles became mindless slaves to Zalazane's twisted voodoo. Vol'jin gathered what free minded trolls he could and retreated yet again to the relative safety of the mainland, establishing Sen'jin Village. From there, Sen'jin Village would become the staging area for every operation to take back the Isles!
But Zalazane is cunning. Warriors, shamans, bounty hunters, and yes, even Assassins, were sent to the Echo Isles with the mission to slay Zalazane, and bring back his head. I myself recall a successful mission in my early days, and I remembered thinking how easy it was, and wondering how such a pathetic creature could put the entire Darkspear Tribe on the run. It was too easy, I should have known. Each time a war party returned with Zalazane's head, the illusion would wear off in a matter of days, revealing it to be nothing more than another of Zalazane's voodoo trinkets.
After years of failure, Vol'jin, with the full support of Warchief Thrall and Chieftain Bloodhoof has decided that only a full scale assault, with the spirits as allies, will finally conquer Zalazane, and restore the Darkspear Tribe to their rightful home.
So come, warriors of the Horde! Return to the homeland and end this crime once and for all. Speak with Vanira at Sen'jin Village, and answer the call of your brethren! Blood and Glory await us!!
