[Edit] All Coin Prizes have been doubled! Some prizes were increased even more! See the rewards Below!
That's Right! For the first time ever, the brave and reckless members of the Shades will don the PvP flag and mount their Epic rides for a no holds barred race for survival!!
All participants must be at least level 30, and have their Journeyman Riding Skill with Mount, but all members are welcome to attend, even to just witness the event, and cheer for your favorite champions!
As this is the first of such an Epic Event, the rules for the race are as follows:
- All racers must be flagged for PvP at all times.
- Special Speed Buffs and Auras, as well as items, that increase Mounted Speed are not allowed.
- Racers are NOT to attack the enemy forces or residents and guards of Ironforge. They WILL chase and attack you! Your job is to outrun them! IF you are dismounted, you are permitted to defend yourself, but only as much as necessary to get Out of Ironforge. Players who decide to go on a murderous rampage through the city will be severely sanctioned.
- Racers are to stick as close to the designated Race Path as possible! Cutting through the Great Forge will result in Disqualification. (You will very likely be Killed anyway).
- If at any time you are killed by enemy guards/players, you are out of that race. Make your way to one of the Rendevous points and await the next race!
- Preliminaries: 50g for 1st Place, 30g for 2nd, and 20g for 3rd.
- Grand Prix: 250g for 1st Place, 90g for 2nd, and 60g for 3rd.
The "Racetrack," as it were, will follow this route through Ironforge:
The race will start at the "O" on the map, and proceed counter clockwise around the Dwarven City.
As stated, Guards will be hot on your heels, and many of them will be armed with Nets! Enemy Players will also very likely try to burn you down. Do your best to stay away, and stay mounted, in order to finish your race!
The races will start at the foot of the hill leading up to the Gates of Ironforge. The starting area is marked on another map below. However, the Finish Line is the outter doorway to the Gates of Ironforge. You make it out of the City in one piece, and you win!
The 1st Place Winners of each of the 3 Preliminary Races will go on to compete in the Grand Prix. Unlike the Prelims, each Grand Prix Finalist can elect a team of "Living Shields;" other racers to run interference for them, and take the fall from the guards if need be!!
In anticipation of the hostilities we may encounter, your Hokage has employed his remarkable Recon abilities, and created this map of Dun Morogh:
Here you will see, circled in Orange, the starting area for all of the races. You will also see a Gravestone that marks where you end up if you are killed. Green Zones and routes are fairly safe, yet open areas where you may be able to hide and recover. The different Blue Zones are designated Escape and Rendevous Points. If we are forced to scatter to throw off our pursuers, the dark blue areas are secluded and reasonably hidden. As a last resort, Gnomeregan will be the fallback point, should we need to quickly return to Horde Territory. Since the Goblins have built a teleporter within the ruined Gnome City, it will be our best bet for getting in, and leaving, Dun Morogh!
So there you have it, Deathracers! Prepare yourselves, and we'll see you SUNDAY, 2/21/2010!
Be There!!
