In This Corner!!

With the coming of the Cataclysm, many unforeseen enemies have surfaced to threaten our very lives!  And just as our namesake declares, we have Risen to this challenge.


But make no mistake, comrades, the enemies we face are powerful, and more deadly than any we've seen in past battles.  Strength alone will not suffice, we must have intelligence, resourcefulness, and mobility.  The old way of fighting is over.  Only by understanding our enemies, both their strengths and their weaknesses, will be emerge victorious!


Therefore, I, your High Chieftain, have gathered intelligence on some of the deadliest enemies we have to face.  Mind you, comrades, none of these are the masterminds of their particular bastions, but they are cunning, and the blood of countless would-be heroes stains the ground they walk on!  And so, here starts the first in a series to educate and prepare us for some of the deadliest foes Azeroth has to offer.  Learn well, comrades, many warriors died to bring us this information!


In This Corner:  Drraahhgaaaaa   Shadowburner!!!



The vile Drahga Shadowburner is an insidious Orc Warlock who, despite his mastery of shadow and fire, serves as a mere messenger to Cho'gall.  But do not let his lowly station, nor his incredibly gnome-like voice, sway your vigilance.  He is a force to be reckoned with, and here's why:  The Invocation of Flame!!


Yes, while there are many mechanics to this fight, this is the single most important aspect that must be controlled.  When you hear Drahga scream "By Fire Be Burned!!" or "Incinerate Them Minions!!" Be on your guard!  He summons an Invoked Flaming Spirit that fixates on a target (indicated by a red focus beam.)  If the Spirit reaches its target it causes a Supernova, inflicting 48750 to 51250 Fire damage in a 10 yard radius around it, verily annihilating anyone within range, including the Tank!


-Gameplan:  

1. When Drahga summons this living bomb, a fiery circle will appear on the ground.  That is where the Spirit will materialize.  
2. Upon seeing the fiery circle, all players, including the tank if necessary, should get some distance between themselves and this drop point.  DPS must be prepared to switch off the boss to kill this elemental as fast as possible, but do not attack it until it finds a target.  
3. Once it fires it targeting laser, All DPS who aren't targeted must destroy it.  Furthermore, the target of the Spirit must try to stay away from it by every means necessary.  

Helpful Hint:  The Spirit is vulnerable to all manner of roots and snares, which can help immensely in ensuring it does not reach its prey.


If this one aspect is respected and resolved, the rest of the fight is not that difficult.  Again, arrogant players may cry like Alliance pups that the DPS meter is dipping, but even a little dps while winning the match is preferable to 0 dps and losing, which is what happens when you DIE.


Below is some film of Drahga in action.  Keep in mind the other aspects of the fight, including a Twilight Dragon, so you are not surprised upon reaching this vile foe:







The video of course downplays the importance of the Fire Elemental, but make no mistake, it IS important.  As you see, the Twilight Dragon's flame is also a deadly component, but simply moving behind the dragon will remedy this. 


So there you have it comrades!  The key to defeating one of the most infuriating pair of foes we have to face!  It will take courage to face them.  It will take wisdom and mobility to out maneuver them.  And, perhaps above all, it will take humility, a genuine concern for the welfare of the war party over one's own DPS score, to finally take the victory!
