The Twilight Highlands. A Fabled peninsula beyond the haunted gates of Grim Batol. Hidden for years, until the world shattering Cataclysm ripped a hole into its mountainous borders. Now we find two races on the brink of extinction. A lost clan of Wildhammer dwarves, furious and worthy adversaries of legend, and vile, ash-skinned orcs of the despicable Dragonmaw Clan.
Many of you, comrades, may see right away the ire with which I regard these treasonous dogs.Indeed, many of you have noticed my marked refusal to serve them beyond what is required to battle the Twilight Hammer. Their calls for aid against the Wildhammers, for example, go unheeded. It is not that these untamed dwarves are not worth fighting, it's that battling against them while sitting in the shadow of Deathwing's forces simply does not serve the Horde. It is for foolish pride and hatred that our wayward cousins, so recently invited back to the fold, call for Wildhammer blood. It is stupidity, and cowardice, nothing more. And as alarming as those traits are for supposed allies of the Horde, it is in fact rather typical for Dragonmaw orcs. For those of you unaware of our history, or of theirs, allow me to explain.
The Dragonmaw's penchant for cruelty and brutality has been their standard since the beginnings of the Horde. Soon after the Dark Portal was opened, when the great Orgrim Doomhammer slew then-Warchief Blackhand, the Dragonmaw refused to follow the new Warchief. His vision of a Horde free of demonic influence was apparently seen as weakness by the Dragonmaw patriarch, Zuluhed, who long before eschewed the ancient Shamanistic ways of Garadar for the Fel, twisted magics of the Burning Legion.
Their depravity and lust for power caught the attention of Deathwing himself, who coerced them to recover the dreaded Demon Soul, which they then used to enslave Alexstrasza, the Dragon Queen, and forced her offspring to dishonorable slavery.
Up to the point of the destruction of the Demon Soul, the Dragonmaw were Deathwing's little pawns. After that point, many of them still served the Black Dragonflight in Outland, while simultaneously buddying up with Illidan, and becoming Fel Orcs. Zuluhed, the shaman/warlock responsible for enslaving the Reds, was then instrumental in not only creating the Netherwing Flight, but enslaving them as well. They also, at the behest of Lady Sinestra, aka Sintharia, the prime consort of Deathwing, provided the Black Dragons with a steady supply of Netherwing Eggs. These eggs were used by Sinestra to create and perfect what we now know of as the Twilight Dragonflight.
in the months prior to his death, Illidan himself deemed the Dragonmaw unfit, not only to serve him, but to survive at all. He proceeded to have them exterminated, but one of their chieftains managed to return to Azeroth and take charge of the Dragonmaw of the Twilight Highlands. However, despite being butt-buddies for so long with Deathwing's Brood, it looked like the Twilight Hammer Clan now carries his favor. In a war with not only their usurpers to the West, but also with the Wildhammer Dwarves, the Alliance, and yes, even the Horde, the Dragonmaw should have been annihilated.
They always viewed Thrall's Horde as an unworthy shadow of the "true" Horde of the Second War, and had no interest in being a part of the nation. Now, desperate to survive, they have joined us, thanks in no small part to the ignorance of Garrosh Hellscream.
So to sum up, it's because of the Dragonmaw the Horde must now once again deal with the curse of Demon Blood. It's because of them that the Twilight Dragonflight exists.
Are there advantages to having the Dragonmaw on our side? Yes. Their knowledge of the Black Dragonflight, as well as their apparent skill at hunting and slaying them, not to mention their intimate knowledge of the depths of Grim Batol, will indeed prove invaluable to the Horde's efforts against Deathwing. But they are arrogant and ogre-headed, and still view the Horde as "weak," even though they owe their very lives to it. They would turn on us in a heartbeat if it meant victory for themselves.
Alexstrasza may have forgiven them of their trespasses against her, but no honorable orc should trust these cretins. I for one refuse to do any of their Daily Quests, many of which involve mundane, useless, subservient activities like finding food for some idiot too useless to provide for himself.
To Hell with the Dragonmaw. The Horde owes them nothing!!
