The Heroic fight is different for one main reason; the Crystal Shards he summons periodically throughout the fight. Not only must targets of the Crystal Barrage move away from this damaging shower, but what emerges from them is even more deadly. The shards will hatch from them in a few seconds, and then move toward a random player.
They are floating Grenades! They will kill anyone they touch, and explode if destroyed by anyone other than their target, killing them as well.
- After the Crystal Barrage, all players should get some distance between themselves and the crystals.
- Ranged DPS should immediately nuke the entire area where the crystals are forming. They can be snared as well, and should be.
- The Crystals only have a little HP, so they should go down quickly, even before they hatch. But if not, they should be AoE'd down as soon as possible.

Now that's all well and good, but the key to this fight does seem to be Ranged AoE DPS.
What if your group does not have good ranged dps? The answer is simple: The fight gets much more interesting! The key here is to use whatever AoE melee abilities are available before the shards become active! Remember that 2-3 seconds of hatch time the crystals need to start being deadly? Take advantage of that and do as much damage as possible before they start moving, and then get the hell away! Shamans should use a snare and Magma Totem, Rogues should use Fan of Knives, etc. If done right, you may be able to kill them before they hatch and kill you. Of course, if you fail, you die.
